The Centre for Research on Southeast Asian Chinese Documents (CRSACD), founded in 2020, collects and studies Malaysian Chinese folk records—from villages, temples, houses, and cemeteries—to build open-access research databases. Through fieldwork and digital humanities, the Center offers fresh perspectives on the history and culture of Chinese communities in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

Mission
Collect and study the inscriptions materials of Chinese society in Malaysia, and input relevant data into the established database, MHGIS to share and communicate with experts and scholars from across the world.
Vision
The Center aspires to position Malaysia as a major player in the humanities digital and expand the scope of the research databases and web platform to Southeast Asian Chinese.
Core Values
To deepen local Chinese studies by interpreting Malaysia and Singapore’s history from the bottom up, offering an alternative viewpoint to the top-down narrative of the British colonial and independent governments.
