The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates Asst. Prof. Dr. You Hui Wei from the School of Economics and Management (SEM), Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), on her recent publication in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence (EAAI), a leading international SCIE Q1 journal published by Elsevier.
This is a collaborative research with COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Pakistan, HSE National Research University, Russia, and the University of Malaya.
The article, titled “Donor Behavior in Healthcare Crowdfunding Success: A Theory-Driven Approach Using Business Intelligence and Supervised Machine Learning in Pakistan”, investigates the factors influencing successful medical crowdfunding campaigns in Pakistan. It analyzed data from 1,019 healthcare crowdfunding campaigns conducted between 2020 and 2023 on Transparent Hands, Pakistan’s leading medical crowdfunding platform. Using advanced machine learning models, the study evaluated how campaign characteristics influence donor behavior and fundraising outcomes.
Dr. You Hui Wei said, “This study demonstrates how machine learning and business intelligence can be integrated with social science theories to better understand donor behavior and improve healthcare financing outcomes. We hope the findings will contribute to more effective and transparent crowdfunding practices.”
Dr. You Hui Wei is an Assistant Professor at Xiamen University Malaysia, a Research Fellow at UNITAR International University, and an Adjunct Supervisor at SEGi University. She has published extensively in SSCI/SCIE-indexed journals and actively serves as a reviewer and research supervisor. She is a recipient of the Emerald Literati Outstanding Reviewer Award (Winner) for Management Research Review (2025), and her research interests include finance, fintech, intersectionality and AI.
