Small Circle, Big Connections: PGSC Welcomes New Intake with Intimate Games Night

October 28, 2025

Following their participation in the general undergraduate orientation, the latest cohort of postgraduate students enjoyed a more tailored welcome on Monday, October 27, 2025. The Postgraduate Student Council (PGSC) hosted an exclusive indoor games event at the PG Lounge (A2-113), designed specifically to turn new faces into familiar friends.

A Personalized Welcome

The evening began with a brief introduction to the PGSC. This session allowed the new students to understand the support systems available to them and the role the council plays in enhancing their academic and social journey on campus.

Strategy, Mystery, and Laughter

Moving away from formal briefings, the heart of the event was a curated series of casual, team-oriented games. The intimate group of seven students participated in:

  • Charades: A quick-fire warm-up that broke the ice and sparked immediate laughter.
  • Uno Rounds: Two competitive games of the classic card game that tested everyone’s tactical skills.
  • Mafia: A game of social deduction and mystery that proved to be the highlight of the night, encouraging students to communicate and debate.
  • Guess the Dancer: A creative activity that wrapped up the gaming session on a high-energy note.

Celebrating Participation

The competitive spirit was rewarded during a Prize-giving Ceremony, where small tokens of appreciation were handed out. While winners were celebrated, the PGSC also made sure to recognize students who displayed exceptional teamwork and creativity, reinforcing the values of the postgraduate community.

Building the Network

The night concluded with Refreshments and Networking, providing a relaxed space for the new intake to share their research interests and personal experiences. Despite the small group size, the event succeeded in creating deep, meaningful connections that are often lost in larger orientation sessions.

The PGSC continues to prioritize these niche gatherings to ensure every postgraduate student feels seen and supported from day one.
