13 XMUM Scientists Featured in Stanford University’s 2025 World’s Top 2% Scientists List

Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) celebrates the inclusion of 13 of its scientists in Stanford University’s prestigious World’s Top 2% Scientists List, released on 19 September 2025. This recognition, based on Scopus data as of 1 August 2025, highlights the significant impact of XMUM’s academic community.

The World’s Top 2% Scientists List, compiled by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier, is widely regarded as a key indicator of a researcher’s scientific impact. The ranking is derived from various citation metrics, including the h-index, co-authorship, and adjusted citation counts, to ensure fair and comprehensive representation. Updated annually, it reflects both career-long contributions and single-year performance, providing transparency and relevance.

The recognized scientists represent several Schools and Departments, including the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre, Department of Physics, China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences, School of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, School of Computing and Data Science, and the Laboratory Centre.

Since its establishment, XMUM has been committed to high-impact research, with a diverse faculty of about 300 full-time staff, over 80% of whom hold doctoral degrees. The university has produced more than 2,090 publications in SCI-indexed journals, including 1,144 in Tier-1 journals such as Science and Nature. Notably, over 461 papers were authored by students, with 292 as first or corresponding authors.
