XMUM Students Win Global Grand Prize at Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition 2020

December 18, 2020

Innovation Center congratulates XMUM team “New Revolution” for winning the Grand Prize for the Best Ideas (the Youth Category) in Citizen Entrepreneurship Competition (CEC) 2020 with their project “Escawipe”.

“Escawipe” is a clean toilet paper made of 70% agricultural waste and 30% food waste. Based on the belief of sustainable food waste management, the team designed the product with the purposes of preserving the planet and providing a high-quality hygiene product to the customers. The judges called it “a genius, circular economy concept, diverting food waste to become toilet paper”.

The “New Revolution Team” is comprised of Gabrielle Tania (team leader) & Vania Christy from International Business Programme and Teh Jia Leang & Tan Kok Wei from Chemical Engineering Programme, with Dr. Yap Teck Lee, Dr. Sam Sarpong and Dr. Woon Kok Sin as project advisors.

CEC is organized by Stiftung Entrepreneurship (Berlin), Goi Peace Foundation (Tokyo) and Digital Experts United. As part of Entrepreneurship Campus, it was initiated to empower social entrepreneurs, especially young people, all around the world to provide innovative answers to global and/or community challenges and to help build a more peaceful and sustainable world.
