CAMPUS NEWS – On May 9, 2025, the Research and Postgraduate Centre, in collaboration with the Postgraduate Student Council, officially welcomed a new cohort of 20 postgraduate students during the May Orientation held at the PG Lounge (A2-113) and MBA classrooms.
The four-hours program was designed to ease the transition into advanced academic life, blending essential administrative guidance with interactive social networking.
Breaking the Ice
The afternoon kicked off with high energy as students participated in a series of ice-breaking games. Activities such as “Remember the Names” and “Guess the Words” encouraged new arrivals to step out of their comfort zones, fostering immediate connections and teamwork within their respective peer groups.
Navigating Postgraduate Life: Departmental Briefings
To ensure a smooth academic journey, representatives from four key university departments provided comprehensive briefings on student services:
- Research and Postgraduate Centre (RPC): Outlined critical details regarding internal and external scholarships, including application procedures and maintenance requirements.
- Finance Office: Addressed tuition fee structures, late payment policies, and graduate research allowances.
- International Affairs Office: Guided international students through the complexities of visa renewals, upgrades, and insurance claims.
- Accommodation Office: Provided a roadmap for hostel-related matters, including room change protocols and check-out procedures.
A Virtual Step Around Campus
Following the briefings, students were treated to a Virtual Campus Tour. This session served as a digital guide to the university’s layout, highlighting the locations of essential offices and facilities to help the new cohort navigate the campus with confidence.
Networking Over Dinner
The orientation concluded on a communal note at the B1 Cafeteria. Over dinner, students and organizers engaged in informal discussions, further strengthening the bonds formed earlier in the day. The event wrapped up with closing remarks that summarized key takeaways and expressed a warm welcome to the newcomers as they embark on their research and professional journeys.
