Gold Award at INIIC 2024 Goes to XMUM Student’s Gamified AR Project

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre congratulates Nadira Hamidah Penton and her supervisor, Dr. Ahmad Affandi Supli, from the School of Computing and Data Science, on receiving the Gold Award at the International Invention & Innovative Competition (INIIC) 2024.

Organized by MNNF Network, the International Invention & Innovative Competition (INIIC) 2024 is an event aimed at fostering creativity and innovation. It invites professionals, higher education students, and school students to present practical and cost-effective solutions addressing accessibility-related challenges. Participants submit abstracts, posters, and videos for evaluation, with opportunities to win awards and certificates across multiple categories. Titled

The award-winning project, “Development of a Gamified Multi-Marker Augmented Reality Application to Enhance Engagement in Learning Sorting Algorithms”, aims to enhance student engagement in learning sorting algorithms by integrating gamification, visualization, and the multi-marker AR method. It presents a sustainable and innovative approach adaptable for learning complex concepts beyond sorting algorithms and applicable across various fields, such as engineering, mathematics, and artificial intelligence.

“Creating the gamified multi-marker AR application has been a journey of discovery, blending creativity with technology to enhance learning. This project focuses on simplifying sorting algorithms, making them more accessible and enjoyable for students,” said Nadira Hamidah Penton. “The award is a testament to the hard work invested and inspires me to further innovate in educational technology.”
