Dr. Lai Sin Yuan and Team Publish in International Journal of Hydrogen Energy

December 22, 2025

The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates Lin Wei, Li Yixian, and Asst. Prof. ChM. Dr. Lai Sin Yuan from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering on their recent research article published in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, an SCIE Q1 journal with a latest impact factor of 8.3.

Lin Wei, the first author of the article, is a graduate of the Bachelor’s degree in New Energy Science and Engineering and is currently pursuing his graduate studies at the main campus of Xiamen University. Li Yixian, the co-author, is a second-year undergraduate majoring in New Energy Science and Engineering.

This work is financially supported by Xiamen University Malaysia Research Fund (XMUMRF/2025-C15/IENG/0077).

The review article, titled “A review of solar-driven photocatalytic reforming of glycerol into hydrogen fuel and value-added chemicals”, focuses on the design strategy from single TiO2 to binary and ternary composites. It shows that hydrogen yield and chemical selectivity can be significantly improved by optimizing catalyst characteristics and reaction parameters. Among various catalysts, ternary composites exhibit outstanding hydrogen production performance through the synergistic effect of multiple components.

This review provides guidance for the design of advanced TiO2 photocatalysts in the fields of renewable and environmental, and pave a sustainable path for the conversion of waste glycerol, with both environmental benefits and energy value.
