XMUM Wins 7 Bronze Prizes in 6th “Internet+” Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition

The Innovation Center congratulates XMUM teams on winning seven bronze prizes in the 6th China International College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (2020). Organized by the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China, this competition was first held in 2015 and has since become one of the world’s largest and most influential platforms for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship among college students. 

This year, the competition attracted 1.47 million projects from 4,186 universities and colleges in 117 countries and regions, including global top universities such as Harvard University, Stanford University, University of Cambridge, Oxford University, National University of Singapore. A total of 163 XMUM students joined the competition, contributing 22 projects.

In comparison with previous years, XMUM achieved a significant increase in the number of medals this year. It is worth mentioning that XMUM undergraduate students have brought home a total of 5 silver and 11 bronze prizes during 2017-2020 for international projects, competing with postgraduate and undergraduate students from all over the world.

Oasis—Intelligent and Precise Carbon Saving City Builder

Descriptions: Our product is a comprehensive carbon reduction solution aiming at constructing intelligent and efficient low-carbon cities. Comprised of three different sectors (investigation, evaluation and management), it boasts five major advantages, namely eliminating the prevalence of data islands, a city-level greenhouse gas emission evaluation system, intelligent decision support, customized and flexible solutions, and advanced ecological intelligence applications.

Alpha-Membrane-A Future-Oriented Green Pathway for Biomethane Production

Descriptions: Biogas is a clean, renewable energy source aligning with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal#7 of Affordable and Clean Energy, which can reduce greenhouse gasses emission. Compared to the conventional separation technologies such as pressure swing adsorption technology and cryogenic separation, Alpha membrane possesses outstanding performance and industrial potential owing to (i) ultra-high purity and permeability of biogas, (ii) lower footprint, (iii) lower energy consumption, and (iv) lower production cost. The development of Alpha membrane may provide a positive impact on the current membrane separation industries for biogas upgrading.

Rubbish Detection by Drone

Descriptions: The drone will fill the gap in remote sensing with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect and identify rubbish, and to provide feedback with image and location data. Then the system will store and process the feedback data, and come up with the optimal path of targeting the rubbish.

“Spykiller”: Detection + Intercept Type Anti Candid Camera Detector

Descriptions: “Spykiller” is a clamping discovery + blocking anti-candid detector. It uses infrared-light and reflected-light detection technology and integrates image recognition technology, which greatly improves the success rate of detecting candid devices and realizes the goal of identifying most candid cameras circulating in the market. With high-intensity laser and signal shielding technology, timely destruction of candid camera or block transmission signal, the product can also protect of user’s privacy and security.

LEADER-Pioneer of Lighted Navigation Buoy based on Technology of Triboelectric Nanogenerator

Descriptions: This project aims to create an extraordinary lighted navigation buoy, combining traditional lighted buoy and TENG power generation technology based on the triboelectric nanogenerator. In comparison with traditional solar energy which may be affected by the weather, this product does not have similar limits in power generation. Besides, it is powered by seawater fluctuation, which means it can perform well under any harsh conditions and there is no need to concern the shortage of electricity supply.

ESCAWIPE – The Future of Toilet Paper

IExchange – Chinese Overseas Students Learning Mutual Aid Tribe

Descriptions: IExchange – This project aims to solve the difficulties of studying and communicating for Chinese overseas students who are in the grey zone of online education service. As a third-party platform, IExchange takes overseas schools as independent teaching units and outstanding students as lecturers, carrying out secondary teaching according to the course content of each school. It puts forward the concept of second classroom innovatively, aiming at a more interesting and comprehensible way to conduct the secondary analysis of the content of classroom teaching. Besides providing targeted Chinese courses for overseas students, it also promotes internal communication among them.
